Chapter 8:   Her Prank

Lucas's POV:

As we were about to reach the gates of the orphanage, out of nowhere Jennifer screamed, " WAIT..! STOP..!! Stop the car. Lucas...!! "

Her screams.... caught me off guard. I was shocked at her sudden scream. So I just applied the brakes as soon as possible, without even thinking about anything else.

I put my hand on my heart it is beating rapidly as if I'll pass out in shock. " O' God..!! Woman..!You are going to kill me today. "

I was stunned. But still, I pull the car away from the main road.

" Now what happens in an instant that you screamed, huh?? "

She immediately proposes her idea whilst smiling crazily, " Okay... Listen. Just park your car in the outside parking lot. And I'll hide behind the car. So you go inside without me and tell the kids that I did not come with you. And then you have to send them to the parking lot to collect all the gifts from your car. And...then. Then I'll surprise them. How does that sound to you, hmm....?? "

So just for this, she screamed when we were in the middle of the road. Ahh..!! Great. It was our luck that there was no one else on the road at that time, except us.

So to her idea which was more like a trick, I just rolled my eyes at her.

" So are you in or not..?? " Out of excitement, she asked me again.

Squinting my lips I said, " You are not less than a kid, are you..? Who told you that you are a businesswoman. You are just a damfool. "

While making an innocent face she joins her hands and pleaded towards me as if her life depends on my decision. Literally, she is not less than a kid.

" Please...please... Lucassss... Let's just prank them. It will be fun, I swear. Come on, dude..!! Don't be a killjoy. "

Such a Drama Queen! 

And she told me...ME a dramatic...! Now, who's making drama, huh..?? But still, I appreciate her act. As I nodded my head in positivity. What else can I do when she acts like this. I simply can't do anything when she does this to me. Oh, God. Someone, please save me from this drama queen.

I accepted my defeat without any further excuses, " Okay fine. I'm in. Just tell me what I have to do. "

She gestures me a thumbs up and then professionally elucidated her plan to me. " Great..!! You just have to go in there. And inform all the kids in a sorrowful manner that I couldn't make it to come here along with you. Though I wished to. But due to some urgent office work or something like that came up so I could not come with you. Furthermore, you also have to command them to fetch all the gifts from the trunk of your car by themselves. And that's it.. ...Yes, that's it. Your part will be over. "

" Oh, one more thing. Please.... please Lucas act naturally. Don't mess it up. Okay. " She pleaded to me again.

Ugh!!! I don't like these things at all. But can't even do anything, especially in front of Jennifer. 

She had some kind of aura that I can't deny her at all. She always has her way. One or the other way.

" All right. I'll try not to - MESS UP your super-duper trick. Hmm..!! " I overstated. 

With that, she smiles cunningly at me and gets out of the car while gesturing me to park the car.

However as planned, I tell the kids that Jennifer couldn't make it. But she apologizes for that and whatever she told me to say. Their smiles vanished as soon as I tell them this news. All sparkling eyes become somber. Even when I informed them that I brought gifts for them, many kids were still lost and still, their faces were deadpan.

But on my and sister Claire's implore who was the head in charge of this orphanage they went to get the present from the car's trunk.
