Chapter 8: Hidden Truth (2)

"Being alone is what i never wished for. If only you were still alive, i wouldn't have to be alone!"

Desmond stares at his parent picture on the wall, and he started remembering things he shouldn't recall. 

Immediately he closed his eyes for a second, he saw a flash of his parent in agony lying in the pool of blood. With annoyance, he walked away from the picture and head to his room.

"Hi mum! I'm back" Kathryn walks in with her luggage.

Helen was surprised when she sees Kathryn coming into the house. "Welcome dear. I thought you said you would be coming back tomorrow morning?" She helped her in with the luggage.

"Yes Mum, but i missed you so much. And since there's nothing left I'm doing over there, i thought of surprising you by coming back today."

Helen couldn't describe how happy she is just by seeing her daughter right now; "I missed you too baby" She hugged her so tight.

"Have you heard from your father?" Helen suddenly ask as she pulled Kathryn out from her arms.

"Dad?" Kathryn was surprised.

"Yes, your dad! He came home early today and was asking of you."

"Dad was asking of me? What for?" 

Kathryn asked without paying much attention to her mum's words. Helen notices how Kathryn responded and she could tell that, she isn't interested in what she's telling her.

"Common Kathryn, did you even listen to what I said? Believe me, your father is now a changed man. He already apologized to me for all his wrongdoings and he's ready to make an amendment."

Without a hint of happiness in her, Kathryn turned and reply her mum; "Dad can never change mum. Someone that could abandon us for so many years despite we are staying together. How come he just change all of a sudden?"

"Trust me dear, he felt remorseful for all the things he did to us and i could see it. We just have to give him a chance and sort our differences."

Kathryn knows that no matter what she says, her mum would continue defending her husband. She then decided to play along to avoid further arguments with her. 

"Alright mum! I will do as you say since it's gonna make you happy. So why was he looking for me?" 

"I have no idea too. He said he will explain everything when he gets back from Hillsboro" Helen replied as she sit. 

Kathryn was surprised at the mention of Hillsboro and was wondering what's going on; "Dad went to Hillsboro?"

"Yes! He said he needs to talk to you as soon as possible. So, he went over there just to see you".

"Okay mum; I think i will have to call him and let him know that I'm back home"

Kathryn brought out her mobile phone from the bag to put a call through to her father. But she was surprised when she sees a new message and some missed calls from both her Father and Mother.

"You called me Mum?" She asked without looking up at her Mum but focuses on the unread message that she is about to open.

"Yeah i did but you weren't picking up" her Mum replied.

"My phone was on sile--- arrrrrrrrrg" 

She couldn't finish what she was saying as she screamed out. Helen jumped up from where she's sitting and moves closer to Kathryn all worried; 

"What happened to you Kathryn?" She asked and then draw Kathryn closer to her arms.

Kathryn opened her mouth but nothing came out. She started crying while she is still in her mother's arm.

"Talk to me dear, what's going on? Why are you all behaving strange today?" Helen asked with a stern look.

"I've been accepted at HGC!" Kathryn shouted as she jumped up with joy.

"Wow! Congrats baby... But i thought you said the interview didn't go well? What happened?" Helen asked with a smile. 

Kathryn was at loss of words and shocked also. She wasn't expecting to be called back after what happened at the interview.

"I don't know what's happening mum. I'm surprised too." Kathryn breath in and out as she sit...

*Hillsboro*

At the airport, Peter sat down at one corner while holding his mobile phone. He seems a bit tense as he keeps on checking on the phone every minute.

"Why isn't Kathryn picking up my calls? And she's not even returning the calls. Is that how much she hates me?" 

Peter murmured to himself and decided to give her a call again. He was about to call her when Vincent called in. 

"Hello Vincent" Peter sounds surprised.

"Hey Peter! How are you doing?"

"I'm good but somehow surprised when i saw your call."

"Yeah i understand. Concerning the message i sent to you earlier, i now got the full information on the Alpha you're looking for."

"What? Really?" Peter sounds really happy about it.

"Yeah... Is it convenient for you if we talk on the phone right now?" Vincent asked with a low tone.

"No no no!  I'm in Hillsboro as we speak. I think it's best we see each other."

"Oh really? That's good then. I will be expecting you" Vincent replied and hangs up immediately...

Peter quickly picks up his jacket and heads toward the exit door of the airport, but suddenly bumps into a young handsome guy putting on a black plain pant and a sky blue shirt with a rolled sleeves.

They both felt a cold chilling down inside of them as their arms collides. Peter smells the scent of a strong wolf around and was thinking who it could be; Then they turned to look at each other in surprised.

"Watch where you're going boy!" Peter suddenly yelled at him as he turns back and head out.

Desmond stood there in bewilderment while he stares at how the man hopped into a cab and leaves. 

That was the first time he would ever felt like that after the death of his parent. He could smell something too but doesn't know what it was; "I could definitely smell something then! But what was it?"

He was thinking out loud when a calm strange voice suddenly calls out his name from behind; "Mr Desmond!!"
